Happy Mother’s Day (UK and other places in the world) 🎈🎈

OF MOTHERS, AND CHILDREN- STANDING IN THE GAP FOR THEM. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

@Dr. Barbara Entsuah  May 10th, 2020.

Today is Mother’s Day, and I read Proverbs 31v10 to the end again, and as many will testify, you learn something new each time you read the Word of God; this time was no exception for me.

I noticed the first few verses talk about the woman as a wife, a housewife, an entrepreneur, and described as compassionate, a giver, fashionable, strong, honorable, wise, and kind woman.  I finally found towards the end, the part about her as a MOTHER – “her children rise up and call her blessed”.  Finally, the chapter ends in v30, the part I love best: -“But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom and no matter what type of mother you are, remember you function better in that role when you Fear the Lord- this is a reverential or awed type of fear.

Motherhood comes in different forms: Biological, Adoptive, Single, Blended, Spiritual, Widowed, Stepmother, Bereaved, Divorced, Empty Nester, and Grandmothers acting as replacement mothers. The Bible has examples of most of these forms of motherhood.  Mary, the mother of Jesus, became John’s adopted mother, and John became her adopted son at the foot of the cross John 19v 26-27.  In Jeremiah 31v 15-17, Rachel in Ramah was crying and could not be comforted because her children had been taken into captivity (Prison). In Matthew 2v16, mothers wept when the wicked King Herod slaughtered children two years and under because he wanted to kill Jesus the young child (bereaved mothers).

Whatever category of motherhood you belong to, if your child is in physical, mental, relational, financial, or spiritual bondage, I have comforting news for you.  There are promises from the Lord you can stand on.  May you be encouraged and strengthened in your mind and spirit as you stand in the gap and be like the watchman on the wall of a city looking out for the enemies coming against it.  Pray for them and do not give up.  Phil. 4v6: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”. Nothing is too difficult for God to change.

The following references will enable you to effectively pray for your children in various situations.

In Physical bondage, (Prison, Lost, Sick, Sex trafficking etc.), we are encouraged in Jer. 31v 16: “For your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord, And they shall come back from the land of the enemy.”

In Mental bondage (Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, detached from you, under control of others, cults etc.), Jerm. 31v17 encourages us: “There is hope in your future, says the Lord, That your children shall come back to their own border.”

In Spiritual Bondage, we are encouraged in 1 John 3 v 8; “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil”. Spiritual blindness is the devil’s work.

Jesus came to set the captives free. If your child is in spiritual darkness, occultic bondage, or under demonic attack, Jesus said “I have come that they may have Life, and that they may have it more abundantly” John 10 v10b. Mother, mama, momma, continue to stand in the Gap for your children. God is not finished with them yet. He is still in the restoration business. “Weeping may endure for a night, But Joy comes in the morning”. Ps. 30v5 (NKJV).

Happy Mother’s Day and God Bless You.  🌷🌷🌷
